The perfect place for any fried fish ,
Excellent, fried in lite batter.
The best in the area. Cooked to perfection. Every time.
Decent size portions too.
We will be going back again and again.
Friday is fish day. You'll be glad you did.

The Colonial Cafe is judged with a 5 out of 5 simply because of the value. The menu offers a nice range of items that include soups and daily specials. You might even pick up the tab because you won't be broke after. It's a nice place to meet your buddies or rendezvous on first date, especially for seniors like myself on a fixed income.

Nice little cafe style restaurant with a bar. I went with a small group and everyone liked their selection for lunch. I got the meatloaf special and it was excellent with mashed potatoes and corn. Some people got the different salads available and there were no complaints. The meatloaf special was popular and there is a different special each day of the week with Friday being the most popular with fish & chips and fisherman's platter to mention a few. They have a good selection of beers and pretty good atmosphere.

If you haven’t been to Colonial Cafe in Chicopee, you are seriously missing out. This place is a true hidden gem and hands down the best restaurant in the city. Every time I go, the food is consistently delicious and made with real care. The homemade daily soups and specials are always worth trying—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch. If you’re going on a Tuesday, Tacos are a must, especially when paired with their rich and zesty Southwest soup—the perfect combo of spice and heartiness.
The meatloaf is truly next level—tender, well-seasoned, and absolutely satisfying. And the BLT? It’s not just good—it’s honestly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Perfectly crisp bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato, and toasted bread done just right. It’s simple, but they execute it better than anywhere else.
The service is always friendly, fast, and welcoming. The bartenders are top-notch—personable, professional, and always ready with a smile or recommendation. And then there’s Vicki, the cook and owner. She’s the heart and soul of the place. Her passion for food and her love for her customers shine through in everything she does. She makes you feel like part of the family the minute you walk in the door.
Colonial Cafe is the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to—not just for the food, but for the people, the atmosphere, and the sense of community. If you’re in or around Chicopee, put this place at the top of your list. A must-go every time.
